The BMC Banquet wowed the 112 members who sold out EVOO restaurant near Kendall Square in Cambridge. Feast your eyes on the menu. Even better, the Club provided a complimentary glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Malbec for everyone.
After dinner, our guest speaker Dr. David Malloch, a mycologist from New Brunswick, wove a very creative presentation on diverse mycological topics.
Imagine all this in one engaging talk: White-Nose Syndrome in bats; the sequestrate (not forming an expanded basidiocarp); the stinkhorn genus Protubera; fungi found only on porcupine dung; composer John Cage; and Heinrich Anton de Bary, a 19th century German biologist considered the founder of modern mycology.
We all had a fantastic time! Thanks to the banquet organizers Susan Goldhor, Nicki Crogan, Marcia Jacob. Thanks to the chef and staff at EVOO for working so hard to make such an enjoyable evening!
