Description:

A smallish puffball covered in spiny warts. As it matures, notice how the spiny warts flake off in sheets from the underlying peridium, revealing a smooth-skinned puffball beneath.

The following two pictures are of the same exact mushroom, one taken a day and a half later. You can see how the spines/warts break off and reveal a smooth skinned puffball.
